THE ULTIMATE BIKE FOR THE CROSS COUNTRY WORLD CUP
Kairn Bike Design Lab has partnered with Mondraker to redesign the F-Podium, a very sucessfull bike in the XC mountain bike segment. A new kinematics, developped by Mondraker, has been the starting point of the project. Our team brought his expertise in bike design and engineering to develop this new frame, tailored for pure performance. The development followed a seamless workflow with Mondraker R&D, to fullfill the market orientation, and the singular design DNA of Mondraker.

Express the performance
Mondraker’s design language was a guideline to draw the frame lines. It has to be recognizable, yet part of a product line. Pure and sharp edges, extreme lightness and continuity between front and rear triangle were the keys to design the new F-Podium. Absolutely no compromise were done to reduce the riding performance nor reliability.
Design freeze with prototyping
Kairn prepared the prototype in order to validate the aesthetic and functions, assembly and clearances between parts,…. The mock up review was a crucial milestone in our design process, to freeze the overall design. At this stage, most of the parts of the frame set were designed, modeled and 3D printed.
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
We develop internally the whole CAD design process, with the 4 sizes declination. We paid a particular attention to ensure an harmonious design between the different sizes. Kairn Bike Design Lab also explored different design possibilities for the lower linkage, in order to optimize the weight / stiffness / cost ratio.

From late 2023, the F-Podium is ridden by pro athletes from Mondraker team Ondrej Cink and Rebecca Henderson in world cup. Former world cup winner, Rebecca will strive to stay in the top 5 in XC elite women.
