LAPIERRE E ZESTY 2023

THE REBIRTH OF LIGHT E-MOUNTAIN BIKING

LAPIERRE reached out to us in order to redesign their flagship light assis ebike, already designed by KAIRN : the e Zesty. Our design team has partnered closely with Lapierre R&D team and Nicolas Vouilloz, by following clearly identified axis of development : weight optimisation, riding comfort and capabilities, and durability.

To guarantee a timeless aesthetics, we simplified the frame construction with its accessories, and purified the lines. We also implemented Lapierre’s design language, by keeping it clean and mastered.

IDEATION - 2D EXPLORATION & SKETCH MODELING

Based on the latest drive unit Fazua eRide 60, the whole package battery + motor allowed a considerable weight saving, compacity and flexibility. This technical package gave to the designers a much more flexible platform to the frame design. The numerous sketching interations drove us to the perfect battery / motor position, to find the perfect attitude, with the most balanced lines and proportions. The sketch modeling -quick surface 3D modeling- started at an early stage. Consequently, it speeded up the design process by merging ideas and technical choices.

PROTOTYPING AND DESIGN FREEZE

The rapid prototyping phase has been implemented step by step. It gave to Lapierre the possibility to check and refine every single details such as aesthetics ones, proportional ones.

This phase has been crucial to validate some technical points too : parts assembly, tolerances and mechanical alignments, clearances with components, production assembly, cable routing, ease for maintenance, etc.

A PLATFORM ALREADY APPROVED BY THE PRESS

[..]This new Lapierre E-Zesty is by far the best Fazua e-bike that we tested until now.
