Redesign of the Rossignol slalom protection range
REQUEST
Rossignol, a brand from the Grenoble region, a pioneer and world leader in the alpine skiing market, wishes to renew its RACE protection range (slalom, giant ski) in the adult and junior segments. Durability, comfort and optimal protection were the key words of the project, under the leadership of Marine Cessans, technical equipment product manager.
METHOD
We proceeded with a formal watch and a design language study to bring visual freshness and communicate the perfect protection of the product. We then used the language selected by the Rossignol team for the different products. 3D scanning and reverse engineering allowed us to obtain the optimal fit. A participatory development method, including user feedback from members of the Val d'Isère ski club, has consolidated the product manager's approach.
RESULTS
The outer shape of the injected shell evokes the trajectory of the skier. The outer surface is subjected to many impacts and scratches, and is therefore grained for a long-lasting aesthetic. We then worked on the entire adult and junior range: leg warmers available in size, elbow pads and pole protection. A coherent range of products that fits perfectly into the “race” DNA of the French brand, presented at ISPO 2020.
