Black crows firmo & meta ski pole HANDLES

  • REQUEST

The Black Crows company wanted to assert its identity on a new family of products: ski poles (which had been sourced from their supplier until now). The challenge of this project was to adapt a strong and unique design language to products in three dimensions, and very demanding in terms of ergonomics. We have worked on FIRMO and META products.

  •  METHOD

We proposed various concepts during a long exploration phase from the start of the first project, to be sure to find a design that truly matches the brand's identity. The prototyping by 3D printing of the selected concepts allowed us to verify the ergonomics of the product and to make the last modifications to the 3D models.

  • RESULTS

These new handles allow Black Crows to display an ever stronger identity, and to offer a very coherent range of products, entirely dedicated to skiing. The challenge of creating handles that are both very ergonomic and corresponding to the brand's very geometric visual identity has been successful.

Launch year: 2019/2020

design of a multi-purpose ski washer

  • REQUEST

Black Crows also entrusted us with the creation of the puck for their pole model adapted to ski touring. This had to be flexible enough to be able to adapt to crossing steep slopes, but also be able to be used to manipulate certain removable parts of the bindings without the user having to bend down.

  •  METHOD

We collaborated with CIDEO engineering office in particular through a creative workshop, to find a system inspired by keystones. The geometry of the washer allows it to deform only in one direction, to best meet the requirements of the specifications.

  • RESULTS

Field tests have shown that the system developed by KAIRN and CIDEO is effective. This project also allowed us to consolidate our support role on more technical subjects.
