Lapierre XR
Design of a pure cross-country mountain bike
Compact and high-performance kinematics.
A unique identity, shaped by performance in use, with kinematics as the starting point.
This new suspension layout, co-developed with Lapierre and based on a compact flexstay with a vertical shock, offers an improved compression curve and two key benefits:
The pivot points for the swingarm and shock absorber are concentrated in the bottom bracket area—which is already the most reinforced part of the frame—allowing for a lighter carbon layup on the other frame tubes, thereby saving precious grams and lowering the center of gravity.
This compact bottle cage holds two 750-ml bottles in all sizes, making it the perfect bike for riders of all levels, from short-track to marathon.
A sleek, streamlined silhouette.
The design is as streamlined as possible and incorporates some of the styling cues found on Lapierre's aero road bikes.
To lower the shock absorber while keeping the settings accessible, we designed an asymmetrical mount for it, which can be concealed as needed by a removable cover, giving the frame a unique look.
Iterative prototyping.
With pure performance as the goal, all unnecessary components have been removed; the tube sections and machined parts—such as the connecting rod—save precious grams compared to the previous version.
Built for the World Cup.
The new XR has proven itself on the XC World Cup circuit in Korea and already has a few podium finishes under its belt with the PXR Racing Team!
